Medicine, eh!

So, medicine.

That's an intro that I never imagined to be opening a post with when I started this a few years ago (Christ.. Time flies), but here we are and there it is.

There's a distinctive shroud filling the surprisingly wide gap between 'Human Medicine' and 'Animal/Veterinary Medicine' that, realistically, not a lot of people have noticed.
To the general population, through my experiences, people see the two fields of medicine as completely different and totally separate. Oh, how little do they know.
The two fields could not be more alike, in fact; Veterinary Medicine is leagues ahead of Human Medicine. Just take that in for a second.

Now, confused? You needn't be. It's a simple concept to grasp once you're aware of a few facts.

Fact 1. It's a sad fact, yet it still stands: When it gets down to it, people don't give a shit about animals. They're selfish. Human rights and threat of law-suit has lead Human Medicine to basically grind to a halt. There has been very little progress in Human medicine as has been with Veterinary medicine, you need to just look at the orthopaedic.neurological field for examples.

Fact 2. Costings. Research costs, people. The NHS is under-funded as it is, with sections and departments potentially being privatised very soon; do you think, with funds stretched as it is, that any funds could be spared to go towards medical research and advancements or even to just go towards more expensive, new procedures. Nope.

"But David, there are non-government funded organisations pumping money into research?"- You are correct, random member of public.
But shall we take a step back and realise that this has technically been covered- stretched funds mean that only the richest of the rich could afford any new treatments potentially pumped out after several years of documentation filing and rigorous testing, leading to their release into the privatised medical field. Seriously, the last I heard, a relatively successful oral treatment for cancer was $10,000+ per month; and that's with the costs capped.

As with all of my posts- the ending is pretty much nothing like the beginning of the post; if you've read any of my posts before you'll know they pretty much all lead off on a tangent filled with rants, a potential non-ending, random facts, potential controversy and.. well.. I'm not sure, I suppose some people could class it as arrogance? Who knows? (You do, but oh well).

Kindest regards for sticking with this post long enough to reach this ending.
